1. Who we are

Range is operated by Giacomo Soliman ("we", "us", "our"), a sole trader registered in England. Range is a membership community for reward and compensation professionals.

2. What data we collect

We collect only what you provide directly through the application form on our website:

We use Vercel Web Analytics to collect anonymous, aggregated usage data (page views, scroll depth, device type, country). This data contains no personal identifiers, uses no cookies, and cannot be linked to individual visitors. We use this to understand how the page is used and improve the experience.

The only browser storage we use is a temporary session token to remember that you've entered the preview password. This is stored in your browser's sessionStorage and is deleted when you close the tab.

3. Legal basis for processing

Under the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR), we process your data on the following bases:

Consent — when you submit the application form, you consent to us processing your data for the purposes described above.
Legitimate interest — to review applications and operate the community. We balance this against your rights and only use data for purposes you would reasonably expect.
Consent (newsletter) — if you opt in to receive content updates, we rely on your explicit consent. You can withdraw at any time.

4. How we store your data

Your application data is stored in Notion, a cloud-based workspace tool. Notion's servers are located in the United States. This transfer is protected by Notion's compliance with appropriate safeguards, including Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs) as approved by the UK Information Commissioner's Office.

Access to your data is limited to the Range team (currently one person: Giacomo Soliman). We do not share, sell, or provide your data to any third party.

5. Aggregated insights and community research

To improve Range and share learnings with the broader compensation community, we may analyse application data in aggregated, anonymised form. This includes:

Trends in AI adoption, tool usage, and professional priorities (e.g. "58% of applicants are at the chatbot stage")
Common challenges, workflows, and use cases across the community
Demographic patterns such as seniority levels and geographic distribution

All published insights are fully anonymised. No individual, company, or application can be identified from any insight we share.

We may also use anonymised quotes or paraphrased responses from free-text questions for content, case studies, or community research, attributed only by broad context (e.g. "VP Compensation, Fintech"). We will never publish your name, company, or any other identifying information without your explicit written consent.

The legal basis for this processing is your consent when you submit the application form, combined with our legitimate interest in sharing knowledge with the compensation community.

6. How long we keep your data

Accepted members: data is retained for the duration of your membership plus 12 months after cancellation.
Declined applicants: data is deleted within 6 months of the decision, unless you ask us to keep it on file for future cohorts.
Newsletter subscribers: your email is retained until you unsubscribe.

7. Your rights

Under UK data protection law, you have the right to:

Access — request a copy of the data we hold about you.
Rectification — ask us to correct inaccurate data.
Erasure — ask us to delete your data ("right to be forgotten").
Withdraw consent — at any time, without affecting the lawfulness of processing before withdrawal.
Object — to processing based on legitimate interest.
Portability — request your data in a structured, commonly used format.
Complain — to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk if you believe your rights have been infringed.

To exercise any of these rights, email giac@range.community. We will respond within 30 days.

8. Third-party services

We use the following third-party services to operate Range:

Vercel (United States) — hosts this website and processes form submissions. Vercel does not store your data beyond what is needed to deliver the page.
Notion (United States) — stores application data. Protected by SCCs for international data transfers.
Google Fonts — serves the Manrope typeface. Google may log your IP address when fonts are loaded. We do not control this. See Google's privacy policy.

We do not use any advertising, remarketing, or social media tracking services.

9. Children

Range is a professional community. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under the age of 18. If you believe a minor has submitted data, contact us and we will delete it.

10. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The "last updated" date at the top of this page will reflect any changes. For significant changes, we will notify members by email.
